Welcome the New Year on the Roof of Africa
Plan a sunrise summit on January 1, 2027 or January 1, 2028. These proposed climbs begin in late December, with an unforgettable New Year's morning at Uhuru Peak—weather, altitude conditions and guide decisions permitting.
Summit push generally starts on New Year's Eve. Dates are mountain trekking dates; arrive in Moshi at least one day before departure.

Are these departures guaranteed?
No. This page presents proposed 2027 departure dates. A departure is confirmed only when Abdi Expeditions verifies the required bookings and operational arrangements.
Can I join as a solo traveler?
Yes. Solo travelers can enquire about joining a group, subject to space and group confirmation.
When should I arrive in Moshi?
We recommend arriving at least one day before your mountain start date for the briefing, equipment check and preparation.
Which route has huts instead of tents?
The six-day Marangu Route uses shared mountain huts. Lemosho and Machame use camping accommodation.
Is the summit date guaranteed?
No. The summit date is the target under the standard itinerary. Weather, altitude acclimatization and guide safety decisions can change the plan.
